Shoes modeling: What do you need to become a shoe model?

Shoe modeling is another popular way to earn some extra money. So, if you are looking for this type of opportunity, then try to contact modeling agencies in your city that are searching for applicants who are interested in submitting for seasonal shoe shows. Shoe models usually do not need to have a portfolio or lots of experience in modeling. They may not need to be tall or a have figure and size like the typical runway model.

The money in this profession is usually very good; although the work is not that frequent and permanent, it is reliable. So, if you are planning to start a career in this profession, then let me tell you certain things you need to know.

  • First and foremost, get in contact with a local modeling agency, and inquire about anything that the agency suggests to add to the basics of what you have to offer. The first criteria of becoming a shoe model is that you need to have a size 6B foot or a size close to it. Usually, shoe shows are held twice in a year- once in the spring and once during the fall, but sometimes there are companies who have shoe shows thrice a year.
  • Next, you need to get in contact with shoe manufacturing companies directly, and inquire as to opportunities for models to “get in where they fit in”. Fit models are the models who have the perfect size for a certain company.
  • You must have at least one head shot, and a photo of your feet and legs. Try to have three 5×7 contact cards, which include a headshot, a full body and leg or shoe shot.
  • You must also practice walking with different heel sizes, extremely high heels, low heels and medium sized heels.
  • Keep your legs and feet in impeccable condition, as these are the moneymakers for you and the company you will be representing.
