The Tropical Look

The jungle look spells casual glamour; it is relaxed and playful even while it is trendy. There are two basic ways of doing this. The first is to use bold prints in bright, exotic colours. These prints invariably have a 70s feel in them. The prominent shades include fuchsia pink, light greens and copper- sulphate blues. The designs are floral or geometric. You could pair these up with chunky bangles or chandelier earrings in equally exotic colours. However, care should be taken if you have a small frame as these tend to drown you. Therefore try and keep the hemline high or exorcise the effect by teaming bold print blouses up with a neutral pinafore or trousers. Heals in bright colours go well with this look. The second route to this look is to use shades of Khaki. You could try Khaki cotton trousers that do not cling to your shape. These provide a flowy silhouette, adding height to the figure. Alternatively, an African safari suit dress in khaki, teamed with a multi- coloured scarf adds instant glamour. For semi-formal occasions, one could choose a khaki pencil skirt with a cotton blouse. Depending on the look, you could choose between casual sandals, gladiator flats or boots. Teaming it up with a fringed sling bag makes for a good festival look.

The tropical look helps you create a glamorous look without having to wear very figure- hugging clothes. Swap your crop tops- for loose kaftans in tropical prints. Keep the neckline broad and perk it up by wearing a bright bikini top with a string halter neck inside.  You could choose from a variety of tropical beaded jewelry in a mix of neutral and tropical colours.

If you plan on wearing open- toed footwear, add glamour to your feet by painting your toe- nails in bright shades of purple, orange or even yellow. Consider toe- rings the best accessory in this look.
