So You Find Size Zero Hot?

Are you one who finds size-zero models fetching, or want to be that size yourself? Is attaining an ultra-thin figure a topic of discussion between your friends? Or are you a guy with wild aspirations to have an ultra-thin woman at your arm? Extreme loss of weight is dangerous, and deeply affects health, happiness and general lifestyle of a person.

What is Size-Zero?

Size zero is a marketing tool. Wafer-thin models, celebrities, actresses or anyone who fits into size-zero clothing are given a size-zero tag. But size zero is an unnatural size for an adult, and is more like the average size of an 8-year-old boy.

Physiological Effects of Sub Zero:

Questioning the unrealistic goals of being size zero, Dr. Kiran Coelho, head of gynecology department at Lilavati Hospital (Mumbai), says: ”If someone is naturally big-boned, how can the person become a size zero?” In the United Kingdom, approximately 1% of female adolescents between the ages 10–20 are suffering from anorexia nervosa and starving. Nearly 4% of college-aged women have bulimia nervosa. Out of them, 50% have a strong tendency to become anorexic. This number is too high!

Listed below are some of the adverse effects of sub-zero :

Eating Disorders:

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, two eating-related disorders, are common in size-zero people. Anorexia nervosa is a mental illness arising from fear of gaining weight through eating. Purging, vomiting, starvation, and diet pills are some of the methods that anorexics resort to in order to keep themselves extremely thin. Bulimia nervosa is a disorder where people eat a lot in a short period of time and then, due to shame and guilt, purge the food.

Osteoporosis :

Living purely on a diet of salad and juice can have bad effects on health. It can lead to osteoporosis or brittle-bone disease in females due to lack of calcium in the diet. Vitamins and minerals all play an important part, and not eating nutritiously can lead to anxiety and mental depression.

Untimely Death:

Anorexia and bulimia can ultimately lead to death if untreated. Italian designers took drastic steps and banned size-zero models from their shows following the death of Luisel Ramos and Ana Carolina Reston.

Ways to Fight Eating Disorders:

  • If you think you or someone you know may have an eating disorder, medical attention is required immediately.
  • Sufferers should not make drastic changes in their food habits. The stomach needs to slowly get used to the new way of eating.
  • Sufferers should eat food that appeals to their senses—something they crave and that teases their taste buds. They must eat nutritiously, without feeling any shame or guilt.
  • Sufferers should eat slowly, enjoying the taste, smell, and texture of the food.
  • Variety is important to anyone’s daily consumption. No single food supplies all the necessary nutrients needed for a body, so it’s important to eat a little of everything everyday: whole grains, colorful fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, poultry, fish, etc.
  • People should eat moderate portions. Eating too much or too little is harmful to the body.
  • Skipping meals often results in over-eating later. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it should be healthy and satiating.

It is most important to keep fit and alert, and lead a healthy, happy lifestyle, full of laughter. Princess Diana did it with her busy schedule, and you can do it too. Be your beautiful self.
